●提案（後編）
■以前に記した「提案（前編）」の続きです。ここでは08年に日本展開されるアキュラ・ブランドについて私案を展開しています。（これもかなり長いので注意）
■まずアメリカで展開されるアキュラのラインナップを記しておこう。RL（レジェンド）を筆頭に、TL（インスパイア・ベースのオリジナル・モデル）、TSX（アコード）、RSX（インテグラ）、MDX、RDX（先日発表されたニューモデル）といった具合。そして昨年まではここにNSXがラインナップされていた。
■ラインナップから気が付くのは、旧ベルノが扱っていた車種が多いこと。また感覚的にも日本の旧ベルノに相応しいと思えるようなラインナップとなっているのがポイントだ。
■現在PCV（＝プリモ、クリオ、ベルノの社内略称）は消滅し「ホンダ・カーズ」となったわけだが、最近の悲しい消滅ニュースはベルノ系の取り扱い車種が多い、ということになる。NSX、インテグラ、今後MDXも消滅か？ そんな風にうがった見方をすると、ますます今後の「ホンダ・カーズ」は、先に予測した私案に近いのかな？ とも思える。
■つまりホンダ・カーズは大衆的なコンパクトカーとミニバン、SUVなどを中心に展開していく。それを前編で私案としてまとめたわけだが、もちろんこれは次にアキュラ・ブランドの今後の展開を書くための布石でもあった。そう、アキュラ・ブランドはおそらくだが、これまでのベルノが扱っていたモデルを発展し展開していくように思えるのである。
■同時にホンダが苦手とするセダン系も、このアキュラ・ブランドで再構築するのではないかと思える。そしてその前に、08年の日本展開を機にアキュラというブランドそのものも再構築されると僕は見ている。
それはもちろん、日本展開を機にセダン群を心機一転させて新たな価値観を与えるためでもある。ウラを返せば、現在国内で堅調なコンパクトやミニバンは、現在のイメージを受け継ぐ展開とされ、一方で苦戦しているセダンは新たなイメージでリスタートする…というシナリオだ。
■だからまず、アキュラ・ブランドがどのように再構築されるかを考えたい。僕の見方としては、現在のアメリカにおけるアキュラの、スポーティ・プレミアム（？）なイメージを下敷きとして、さらに新たな価値観を加えていくように思える。
■個人的な予測では、現在のSH-AWDに代表されるような「ハイテク」をウリにするのではないかと思える。現在でもアキュラの製品は、スポーティなプレミアムカーとして走りの良さを押し出している感があるが、これをさらに推し進めて、ハイテクによって走りの良さを謳うのではないかと思える。
■これはレクサスも似たようなもの…と思えるのだが、アキュラの場合は「プレミアム」という言葉を使わないように思える。なぜならプレミアム＝高級と見られるし、既にレクサスがこの言葉を全面に押し出した展開をしている。しかもその言葉を全面に押し出しているにも関わらず、謳っているのは「高級の本質の追求」とやや分かりにくい表現でもある。
■ならばアキュラはプレミアムという言葉を使わずに、プレミアムとは何かを表現するように思えるのだ。そこで先に記したハイテクで走りの良さを謳う…という部分が出てくる。レクサスもハイブリッドをコア技術にすると謳ったが、まだトヨタ・ブランドとの明確な線引きがなされているわけではない。また車両制御技術であるVDIMなどに関しても同様。トヨタはトヨタでマジェスタが存在し、それは昔ながらの上客を押さえるために不可欠な車種である。しかもそれをレクサスと大きく差別する…というのは無理なのだ。
■こうした状況に対してアキュラはもっと明確に、技術を分けるのではないかと思える。なぜならホンダ・カーズが今後扱う車種を考えればそれは明らかで、コンパクトカーやミニバンは車格的にも価格的にもセダン系ほどハイテクを必要としないからだ。だから今後はおそらく、SH-AWDはアキュラに特化した技術となっていく気がする。おそらくこれは次期アコード（アキュラ扱い）で搭載されるだろうし、RDX、MDXも搭載する。またNSXの後継といわれるクルマにもこれが搭載されるのではないだろうか？ そしてこれによってまず、スポーツモデル以外で後輪駆動を持たないホンダ…のイメージを払拭し、AWDを基本とする。そうすればこれまでFFのみで苦戦していたセダンのイメージも変わる…というシナリオだがどうだろうか？ そしてこれに合わせ、新たな技術を投入していく…という見方ができる。
■08の日本展開を機にアキュラは、取りあえずSH-AWDをコアテクノロジーとしたブランドに生まれ変わる…というのが僕の予測。つまり「ハイテク」で走りをさらに「ハイクオリティ」かつ「スポーティ」なものとし、これをしてプレミアムという言葉を使わずに、プレミアム・ブランドを目指す気がする。なぜならそれが今までのプレミアム・ブランドの歩んだ道だからだ。メルセデスやBMWはみなそうしてきたことでプレミアム・ブランドとなった。最初から自らをプレミアムと呼んだのは歴史的にもレクサスくらいのものだろう。そうしたレクサスに、仮に対向するならば、そうした道の選び方の方がホンダ・ウェイのように思える。だからレクサスほどは気取らないブランドとなるような気もする。
■さて、ブランドそのものを考えるのが長くなってしまったので、ザッとラインナップを考察してみたい。
まず重要なのはセダン系。これを一新して日本でも数を送り出すことがある意味命題でもある。というわけで僕の予測ではアコード系を入り口として、欧州プレミアムのようなヒエラルキーが築かれるように思える。おそらくアキュラ・ブランド扱いとなるだろう次期アコードを一番下に置き、その上にインスパイアクラス（現状のアキュラでいうTL）、そしてレジェンド＝RLをトップに据えるのが妥当。
■そしてＳＵＶはRDX、MDXが用意される。さらにエントリーとして、次期インテグラ（あるかどうか知らないが）を用意（というか次期アコードのクーペ版と考えた方が良いか？ その場合オープンも用意する必要があるか？）、トップに次期NSXといわれるクルマを置くのではないだろうか。
■つまりラインナップはTSX、TL、ＲＬ、RSX、NSX、RDX、MDXという感じではないだろうか。
■そして、もしかするとここでデザイン改革も合わせて行われる可能性がある。現状でもRDXやMDXを見るとかなりアメリカに特化したデザイン。これを改める可能性もある。まさか日本アキュラ専用デザイン…ということはないだろうが・・・・。
■そしてこれまでのホンダ以上に、走りを訴求するように思える。。。。搭載エンジンは・・・・・もしかすると６発より上！ とかいう感じになったりして。V6を基本に、次期NSXといわれるクルマのV10があるなら、その間を埋めるV8もありか？ また気筒休止やIMAも組み合わせる？ 実際ホンダは現在でも技術のリソースを多く持っていながら、それを上手い順列組み合わせで使えていない。その辺りをクリアなものにしてくる可能性は多いにある。
■というわけで、後編はアキュラのラインナップを考えてみました。
■エッ？ 今までのタイプRに代表されるスポーツ系はどうするかって？ それにS2000が語られていない？ …確かに。もちろんそれは僕も考えていて、また時間があるときに、提案（特別編）とでも題してスポーツ系をいかに扱うかを考えて見ようと思う。
■最後に改めて記しますが、これは完全なる私案ですので。

私はＦＲ主義者じゃないけどレクサスやBMWなどのメーカーと渡り合うにはやっぱりＦＲが欲しいです。アメリカの高級車市場ではＶ８がステータスを持つと聞きます、レジェンドクラスにV８を載せるためにもFRシャシーがあってよいのでは。
あとはやはりデザインですよね、NYショーのRDXやMDXプロトではインフィニティFXどころかムラーノにさえ負けてるように思います、てゆうかマツダのCXにも負けてる。
アキュラ用に他社からデザイナーを引き抜くぐらいのことをしないとだめかも。

あのレクサスでさえ、現時点では苦戦中なのは皆様も御存知かと思いますが、私の地元県内にも１件しかなく低迷中です。
ホンダはアキュラを、最初は全国１００店舗ほどでスタートさせるそうですが、河口さんの予測通りの車種展開でなくとも苦戦は必至かと思います？
（日産でさえ、インフィニティの国内導入には慎重ですし）
個人的には、日本の旧ベルノと言えば「スポーツ＆スペシャリティ」のイメージでしたが、仮にアキュラ店のみでそういう車種を新しく出すとしたら、ホンダは今の日産以上に「庶民はスポーツカーには乗らずに、ミニバンにでも乗っていろ！」と言いたいのかとも勘繰りたくなります？
と言うか、ますますホンダの「米国化」が進行してくる気がします・・・。
